Hope Is an Arrow: The Story of Lebanese American Poet Kahlil Gibran

This account traces Kahlil Gibran's childhood from Lebanon to the United States at the turn of the twentieth century. Religious conflict in his homeland drove many Arab people to America, and Gibran later settled in Boston, where wealth and poverty existed side by side. Art and poetry gave him comfort as he brought together his Lebanese heritage and new American identity. Collage and acrylic illustrations accompany the biography.
