Giant

Set in East Belfast in 1908, this retelling imagines part of C. S. Lewis’s childhood. Davy, a working-class boy, is sent to work for the wealthy Lewis household, where he meets Jacks, the name Lewis uses with family and friends. Drawn into Jacks’s world of books and stories, Davy joins him in imagining adventures and discovers artistic talent of his own. A possible shipyard job for Davy and Jacks’s mother’s grave illness put their shared imaginative world at risk.
