Family/School/Community Abuelita and I Make Flan

Anita enjoys making Cuban desserts with her grandmother, especially flan prepared from family recipes. While making flan for her grandfather’s birthday, Anita accidentally breaks her grandmother’s treasured serving plate, which came from Cuba. She then has to work out how to tell Abuelita what happened. Spanish words and phrases appear in the story, and back matter includes a flan recipe. The illustrations are bright and playful.
