Maddie spends a sunny day with her mother at a public pool, meeting friends and neighbors along the way. She notices the people behind the many different bellies she encounters, including an artist with ice cream on their belly. Maddie thinks about what bellies can do, why some people try to keep them flat, and the importance of not touching another person’s body without permission.
