Evelyn, the Adventurous Entomologist: The True Story of a World-Traveling Bug Hunter

This biography follows Evelyn Cheesman’s lifelong pursuit of knowledge about animals, especially insects. As a child, she collected glowworms, despite expectations that English girls should keep clean and wear frilly dresses. Later she led the insect house at the London Zoo, adding crawling and flying specimens to its exhibits. In the early 1920s, Cheesman made eight solo expeditions to distant islands.
