Doodles from the Boogie Down

In the Bronx around 2000, eighth-grader Steph faces the approaching high-school application process. Her protective Dominican mother favors a private Catholic school, while Steph wants to attend LaGuardia and pursue her ambition to become an artist. Alongside this decision, Steph deals with middle school, changing friendships, and the expectations at home. This coming-of-age graphic novel follows a young Dominican girl as she weighs family pressure against her own creative hopes.
