Don’t Eat the Cleaners!: Tiny Fish with a BIG Job

At coral reef cleaning stations, small fish, shrimp, and other creatures remove parasites and dead skin from larger marine animals. Wrasse, angelfish, and cleaner shrimp provide this service to customers that can include sea turtles, manta rays, and sharks. In return, the cleaners get food. The book examines this relationship among reef residents and the rule that lets the cleaning stations function: the larger animals must not eat the cleaners.
