Dog Driven

Fourteen-year-old McKenna Barney is a musher whose eyesight is worsening because of Stargardt disease. For the past year, she has tried to conceal her impaired vision and withdrawn from others. At her little sister’s request, McKenna enters a commemorative mail-run dog-sled race through the Canadian wilderness. The demanding course raises the question of whether she can see well enough to complete it. The novel follows her decision to race while managing vision loss and the risks of a strenuous wilderness competition.
