Ana leads a varied group of teenage scientists and fighters on a mission involving powerful technologies that could be used destructively. The novel pays tribute to Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and shares a contemporary version of the world found in Jules Verne’s books. It features retrofuturist science-fiction machinery, tools, and places, along with descendants of Verne’s characters. Black-and-white spot illustrations appear throughout.
