BURT THE BEETLE DOESN’T BITE!

Burt is a ten-lined June beetle who wants to have a superpower like the other insects. He cannot carry 50 times his weight like ants, and he cannot spray paralyzing venom like certain termites. Instead, June beetles seem to chase porch lights and end up on their backs, waving their legs. Burt wonders whether he has any special skill at all, until other bugs’ powers fail and he discovers his own ability. Insect facts accompany the story.
