Brighter Than the Sun

Sixteen-year-old Sol, also called Soledad, lives in Tijuana and crosses into the United States for school and work. She hopes to become the first member of her family to attend college, but her family’s struggling restaurant adds financial pressure. Taking a part-time job in San Diego, Sol helps her father cover food and household expenses while managing the demands of school. Her story follows the burdens she carries as she works toward a future of her own.
