Blended

Eleven-year-old Isabella spends alternate weeks with her divorced parents, whose ongoing conflict leaves her caught between their households. Her white, working-class mother and Black, middle-class father lead very different lives, though Isabella loves both parents and their new partners. Weekly moves, different names, and different belongings deepen her sense of having no place fully her own. As she prepares for a piano recital and both parents plan remarriage, a racist incident at school makes her think more deeply about racial identity.
