After a chance encounter, Santi and Suwa repeatedly circle back into one another’s lives until a hidden connection from the past emerges. Santi, who is multiracial and bisexual, joins his new high school’s marching band and finds a community he has long wanted. Suwa, a Japanese Korean American transgender teen and Santi’s section leader, first becomes a friend and then something more. Music, anime, chosen family, and a shared devotion to art shape their relationship as they face changing hopes and ambitions.
