Astronauts: Women on the Final Frontier

This nonfiction graphic novel follows women whose work changed the history of spaceflight. It includes Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman to travel into space, and Mary Cleave, alongside the women of NASA’s Group 9, its first astronaut class to include both women and men. Their stories show women confronting resistance to their place in the space program while pursuing new milestones. The book also considers what NASA needed to learn to make space travel work for everyone, and includes author’s notes, references, and material about its creation.
