All the Way Around the Sun

A year after Stella Chen’s older brother dies, her Chinese immigrant family is fractured by grief and unanswered questions. Stella and her brother spent years in the Chinese countryside with their grandmother before joining their parents in the United States. Now, after another move, Stella feels isolated in San Diego. Her parents require her to take a California college tour with Alan Zhao, a childhood friend from whom she has grown distant. The trip opens a path toward healing and rekindled connection.
