A Planet Is a Poem
Amanda West Lewis
This collection combines solar-system science with fourteen original poems about planets and other celestial bodies. Earth appears in a ballad, the sun in an ode, Venus in a villanelle, and Saturn in a sestina. Each subject is paired with a different poetic form chosen to reflect its characteristics, along with information about both the object and the form. Gatefolds add factual material to the journeys through the solar system, and back matter defines the poetic forms.
