A Crane Among Wolves
June Hur
In early sixteenth-century Korea, King Yeonsan terrorizes the population, including by kidnapping women and girls. Seventeen-year-old Iseul leaves her village after the king takes her older sister, Suyeon, and travels toward the capital to rescue her. At an inn, Iseul becomes involved in the search for an assassin targeting the king’s supporters, hoping to exchange that person’s identity for Suyeon’s release. She also encounters a secret effort to organize a coup against the king.
